I have my great grandfathers discharge papers from R.A.S.C. in 1920 and need a bit of help !
1) What does M.S.S. stand for? (I've been told Master Staff Sergeant or Master Supplies Sergeant) which is correct?
2) Where is the best place to find out on the internet about 612 M.T. Coy. of the R.A.S.C.? Such as when formed and where and when they were in WW1 ?
3) I also have three picture postcards of steam vehicles with the words W^D TRIALS No 8 on them, printed by May & Co military photographers of Aldershot, where is the best place to research these?
Please HELP !

1. I am not at all sure about MSS. Maybe someone else will know. 2. It is dobtful if internet will provide any help. A better source would be the National Archives at Kew where all sorts of military records are stored. 3. I suggest the Imperial War Museum in London. They have a very large collection of photographs of the period and also hold a good library which may well have some items about the trials. In both cases it would be as well to write or telephone in advance to ask if material is available and to make arrangements for it to be made available. They do have reading rooms and appointment systems as well as, in the case of Kew, a "Readers Card" system.
