I am trying to find info on my grandad who recently passed away. I wish I had asked him where and when he was during WWII when he was still with us, but it wasn't until going through his photos and army book when I became hooked on finding out. I know he was involved in the D-Day landings and I have a photo of him with others on motorbikes taken in Holland May 1945. I also know he was in Egypt after the war. If anybody knows of any info that will help me or know if there is somewhere i can get his records that will tell me exactly when and where he was during his service please get in touch. My Email is andyclarke78@aol.com Thankyou

Andy, My father served in the RASC during WW2, and during my research into his service I came across your email regarding 524 Company GT. If you check the following website detailing the Order of Battle for D Day, you'll notice 524 Coy RASC listed as part of Division HQ, 50th Northunbrian Division. I hope this helps. www.2ndbn5thmar.com/history/BrSecondArmy440606.pdf[/font]

Hi Andy, my father had similar service i.e. he was involved in D Day landings and was in Egypt during 50's. Interestingly I also have motorbike photos and I think he may have been in Holland also as I have maps he used. Could you upload your photo and/o email me?My email is allegrafinancial@tiscali.co.uk. Also it is possible to obtain the service records from the MOD - check out their website, although it takes a while. Regards Christine Hammond (daughter of William H Hammond).
