I'm Director of Arras public Library and Archives. Have an university degree in history and I work on a project to commemorate all the soldiers and airmen killed in Arras area during WW2. We wish to be able to give a visage to all these young men that fought for our liberty and commemorate them.
Our goal is to commemorate all the men and women that fought and give their life for our liberty in Arras and its area.
Today, I would like to find information about one soldier of the RASC buried in the Arras Faubourg d’Amiens British Cemetery. Here is the information I have:
TATE, WILLIAM A. Rank: Private Service No: 10674195 Date of Death: 16/09/1944 Age: 36 Regiment/Service: Army Catering Corps / attd. 505 Inf. Bde. Coy. Royal Army Service Corps Grave Reference: Plot 8. Row A. Grave 27. Cemetery: FAUBOURG D'AMIENS CEMETERY, ARRAS Additional Information: Son of Arthur Oswald and Annie Tate, of Blackburn, Lancashire; husband of Maud Tate, of Blackburn.
Would like to find a picture of him and all other documents concerning his life and death you could wish to share with us to commemorate his sacrifice for freedom cause.
Be sure of my full respect and gratitude for all these men. Just hope your help to commemorate them.
Sincerely,
Laurent
