My father, Driver Kenneth Galley T/4389482, was initially with the 4th Batn Green Howards and served with them in the BEF, Dunkirk, Cyprus, and N Africa, where he was captured in 1942 and transferred to an Italian PoW camp at Sforzacosta, Macerata, eventually escaping and rejoining the British lines in Italy. On returning to the UK, he was transferred to the RASC and posted to Palestine in Feb 1945 to the 258 Company, based, I believe, at Haifa, before his discharge in November that year. If anyone has details of the Company's activities there, i would be pleased to learn of them.
