Hello, my grand father (10690847 SGT Leonard Simpson) was a member of the 107 Coy RASC during there stay at catterick barracks bielefeld, in 1952-56 as part of the 11th armd div, he now sadly is dead and there are a lot of things i would like to know about this time. I have a full copy of his service records (which are very interesting, but they don't go in to any detail about his time there). I was wandring if any one could help me, either by telling me the roll of the the coy and what they did or if you knew my grand father or knew of him and could tell me something about him. Thanks.

Have you tried putting 107coy rasc and 11th armoured div into a search engine? It brings up quite a few hits for both. Also try here www.army.mod.uk/rlc/history/351.aspxRead this carefully and it's postal enquiries only, they may be able to help. You could also try WW11 talk there are some very knowledgable members there who may know more.

Hi Timothy, I served with your granddad 1952 -1956 He was in "B" platoon and I was in "HQ" I was a corporal in the CSMs office. I can't tell you much about him only that he was very strict with the other ranks. But I didn't have much dealings with him as I said I was in "HQ" Platoon. I remember one dealing I had with him. I was on manoeuvres, and I gave all his platoons petrol to a colonel in the tank regiment, because the were running short. He wasn't very pleased. Ken Williamson who left a tag for you is my cousin he had more dealings with hi than me. Good hunting

Hi Timothy. This is a bit random but I think your grandfather maybe my grandfather too. My dad never knew his dad, knew his name and his occupation from his birth certificate. My dad was born in Camberwell, London in 1948. Could your grand father have been in London around that time? Apologies for randomness of this message. Thanks Ben
