Served a while with HQ at Cupar then 'A' Troop at Leven, 1967 to '74.
Anyone out there who served with me or have any photos of those years, camps at Bedford, Warcop, Sennelagger, Minden ect.?
I was driver to Captains Brackenridge and Sharrock, drove Rovers, RLs, Thorneycrofts and Hippo's, but was DR for most of the time, and was involved in a few good excercises, particularly enjoying the NATO Rhine Crossing.
Those Dutch guys were great fun, with those daft two stroke mini 4x4's!
Mitch the Forklift Driver and Danny the chopper Pilot will recall me teaching them to ride a DR bike in exchange for a wee go with their vehicles, particularly Danny's craft which scared the sh*t out of him and me, and Mitch and Danny will both remember me as the DR who got the 40 plus wasp stings and ended up at hospital in Gutterschloh. Thanks to the Yank medic with the big hypodermic I got the best night's sleep I've ever had after that!
So if you're out there MITCH or DANNY give me a call.
Strange thing is that I've recently discovered that my dad was around all those areas with the RASC between '39 and '47, when there were a few Germans who were even more dangerous than the taxi drivers I met up with on the roads!
Good site by the way, but terribly quiet.
