I like willis am new to internet I am trying to find any infor mation on my father Herbert Ridsdale who served in the R.A.S.C. in 1918 I am led to believe that he joined up in 1918 just before the Germans started their big push if anyone can tell me where to gather information I would be most gratefull. Try www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ and follow the military links, the research guides are helpful too. Or go to your nearest library (that has a subscription to ancestry)/ county records office (they usually do) ,you will need a d.o.b., their name and maybe address or town to narrow it down a bit, not all records survive. Another way go to, www.veterans-uk.info/ follow the service record link, this will tell you how to apply, it will cost about £30.

His Regimental Number: Herbert Ridsdale Army Service Corps M/398803. Was awarded the British War & Victory Medals. (TWO) Enlisted 27 March 1918 at Halifax, Came from Bradford West Yorks. Served with 57 (MT) Company RASC 1918-1919) Received an Army Pension due to ulcers. Also served in UK at Bulford Camp Wiltshire. Trade: Heavy Lorry Driver.
