My father - driver John Stewart 2828916 RASC, was posted to the 572nd General Transport Company on 18/3/1944. this was advised by the Ministry of Defence. Can anyone advise me which Division this company may have been part of.
I know he landed in Normnandy in June 1944, but can find no record of a 572nd GTC. There is a 527th Divisional RASC Company with the 51st Highland Division, and I'm wondering if it's a transciption error.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
