My father was a regular with rank of Captain during WW2. He was awarded an MBE and his notice is dated 1st January 1945. I have his service records that say he received it for 'gallantry'. His records show he was a clerk, mostly in charge of wherever he was posted, Egypt, Italy, Malaya and finally at Western Command, Chester. The only information I have been told is that details of the award are classifed and available to next of kin only. I have tried the National Archives, but not living in the UK, makes it difficult for me to visit Kew. Can anyone advise me please. My father's name: Edward Stanley Ascroft, rank of retirement: Major. Service from 1920 to 1956 approx. My email is: peter@taxgeek.co.uk Thanks for any help Peter Ascroft
