Hi My Father served with the 242 RASC Company 6th Armoured Division in1942 to 1945. He was mainly stationed in Algeria, Tunisia, Naples and Monte Casino for quite a while and Austria Vilac. He transported Amuniction, Petrol, Food Supplies and Mules. He also did the run between Vilac and Calais transporting Troops going on leave. My Father is 89 years old this year and would He like to hear from any surviving Army Pals, unfortunately the only name he can remember is Harry Green last known from Leytonstone. My Father would have been known as John or Johnny Shaw or Lofty.

Hi there
I only came across your request for information on Army Pals in the 242 RASC Company today - was very excited.
My late grandfather Alexander "Alec" Cowshell was a driver in the 6 Armoured Division and 242 Armoured Division Troops Company 18.08.1941 - 03.04.1946 I only know he served in Africa, Italy and Austria Unfortunately he died in 1985. He was a very quiet private man who never spoke about the war. I am trying to find out more information about his squadron. I do have a couple of photos but no names to the faces.
Kind regards Elizabeth Pegg

My father was Thomas Derrick Hoten (1927-2010) and served as a Scammel Lorry Driver in the 242 Company in 1942 according to his driving licence. He may have been in C platoon and knew a guy called 'Butch'. Served in the army from 27 December 1944 to at least 8 November 1950. He was in Italy (photo of Venice), at Camp 21 near Nathanya in Palestine and then in Kenya.
