Just started some research into my Grandfathers activities during WW2. I have his release book which shows he has a T prefix army no. which I believe denotes "Transport", he was a driver and the book is stamped 14 Coy RASC (ATC) having enlisted on 29/01/1942. I believe he passed his driving test in Egypt but don't have much more info. Going to apply for his service record but just wondered if anyone can anyone provide any general info on this unit
Thanks in advance

Hi Dawn, my Grand Fathers records also mention 14 Coy in association with Palestine, and as far as I can work out, Palestine was his first posting. This would have been in 1939 just after the war broke out. He volunteered for service with the RASC, driving was already a trade skill. Following the war, he returned to driving a bus. Must have seemed tame after what he had been through!

I was a driver in A platoon 14 Coy from 1956 to 1959. It was a great Coy,on our lorries we had the Cross of Jeruselem painted on, we were told that 14 Coy was awarded during the Palestine campaign and were reformed either two or three times. The T/ on our service number was classed as trade.

Good evening all. I am glad to have found this site as I have a particular interest in 14 Sqn; I have just finished being the OC and have recently started to try and research the Sqn. Outside the office are several boards with names of all the OCs since October 1938 to present day. Also, a board with the name changes to the Sqn since October 1938 with some locations. I can take some photos and post them if people are interested?

Very much interested in 14 Company's experiences during WW2 and was wondering if you would be willing to get in touch to discuss the diary. My interest in this subject is that I recently finished being Officer Commanding 14 Squadron (was 14 Company) and am compiling a book on the Company during the War.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
James

Very interested to hear if you were part of the Company mobilised for Suez as I have an account of the Company's preparations for the deployment written by the OC at the time. Do you have any photos of the vehicles with the 'cross'? Regards James.

Afternoon All,
I'm still continuing my research of 14 Company RASC and gathering more stories of the soldiers throughout the war years. I would be grateful if anyone who served with or had a relative serve with 14 Company, especially during WW2, would get in touch. I'am also interested about the Cross of Jerusalem painted on the vehicles: size, colour and even a photo would be fantastic.
I look forward to all replies!!
Regards
Bruneval
